Hi Folks:

Below is the final, official Assembly Floor vote on SB 49/Karnette, which mandates the electronic filing of, and Internet access to state campaign finance and lobbying disclosure records. The bill passed by a landslide, with a final count of 73 votes in favor, three in opposition, and three abstentions.

SB 49 now moves back to the Senate, which will be voting on whether to concur with amendments made to the bill while it was in the Assembly. The bill is likely to be taken up on the Senate Floor during the afternoon on Wednesday, September 9th. Assuming the bill passes the Senate again (which appears likely to happen), it will then move to Governor Wilson’s desk.

I will be writing up and sending out a summary of yesterday’s Assembly Floor debate later on in the day. In the meantime, below is the official, final tally of the vote, along with an
editorial from today’s San Jose Mercury News.
