2008 Presidential Ballot

Caroline Said:

Presidential ballot 2008, should we write in Shannen Rossmiller?

We Answered:

If courage and creativity are what you want to vote for, sure. I would rather vote for someone who shares my views on many issues, and I don't know if she does or doesn't. I would prefer that she hold off on telling her story and revealing her methods of hunting terrorists until the war on terror is won. I worry that what she reveals will help them avoid the kind of traps she sets for them.

But I understand that she has contributed a lot and has a right to get something from it, and maybe her public efforts will help encourage others to join the effort. Hope so.

Allison Said:

What caused universal healthcare to come up as an issue in the 2008 presidential election?

We Answered:

It is kind of funny looking at the answers, that Hillary's he reason seems to be the main jist of most of them. I'll give you a broader view, hopefully it's more to your liking.
Here's the thing. Universal healthcare, and it's coming up now as ever, has always been spurned as impossible, expensive and detrimental. There's been small fights about that issue, but no one every willing to actually discuss what it takes. Now people are. And lets get one thing straight: IT'S NOT JUST HILLARY. Everyone harps on her because she's the only one to present a plan involving universal healthcare, but she is also not the only one to support initiatives involving it.
Believe what you want about universal healthcare, honestly i don't care to argue it anymore, since no one can seem to agree given the same body of evidence. But the failing of Medicaid has been an issue long before 2004, and Sicko was only one more embodiment of the ideas behind universal healthcare, not really something that brought it all to light. The real change came when the people who supported universal healthcare actually felt strong enough to argue for it, so I would say there's only one person responsible for this issue coming to light, one of the few things I can thank him for: George W. Bush. The issues in his administration have opened the door for entirely forgotten ideas to come to the floor, and for that, I appreciate him. Say what you want about how good or bad he has been, doesn't change a thing.

Amanda Said:

2008 Presidential Ballot did you know about all these other choices?

We Answered:

Yes, I did. Unfortunately, in our country (US), voting for anyone other than the two "big" parties, will not make a difference. It will only diminish the number of winning votes for each main candidate. That being said, it is a fundemental right to vote for whomever a person wishes. For me, it is a sad state when a presidential election depends upon how much money is raised instead of qualifications for the highest office in the country.
