Arkansas Election Ballot

Terrence Said:

Could you help me?I'm trying to understand the whole presidential election thing with the electoral college...?

We Answered:

The Electoral College is really simple to understand.

The first thing you need to know about it is that anyone 18 or older, who is a registered voter, can be a member of the Electoral College.

Second, whichever Presidential candidate that receives the most votes in a State is the one whose Electors cast their ballots.

Each Presidential candidate has Electors ready to vote for them IF they win each particular State.

Electors are chosen at State Party conventions and their are potential Electors for every Presidential candidate that is on the ballot.

However, only the candidate who secures the most votes (not necessarily a majority) has their Electors actually cast ballots.

What the liberals who want to abolish the Electoral College won't tell you is that the ultimate goal is to abolish the United States Senate and turn America into a mob rule society.

Hector Said:

Why did Sarah Palin and John McCain 'stretch the truth' at the RNC convention, and will it hurt or help Obama?

We Answered:

There were even more lies than were discussed in that article.

http://answers.yahoo.com/question/index;…

It's funny because there was a similar article fact-checking the DNC (as illustrated by johnnydangerously59), and on pretty much every point the fact check concluded "yeah, that's basically correct". On the RNC it was like "this is grossly exaggerated and this one is a whopper of a lie, etc."

As for why they 'stretched the truth' (a.k.a. exaggerated and lied), they're trying to defend the choice of a woman who is clearly not qualified to be vice president of the USA. To do that, they exaggerate her qualifications and attack Obama by lying about him. Desperate times call for desperate measures.

As for whether it will hurt or help Obama, that's up to the American people. If most Americans base their votes on the issues and the Republicans are lying about (or simply not addressing), then it helps Obama. If most Americans base their votes on a fair assessment of character, then the GOP's willingness to exaggerate and lie will help Obama.

However, if people are looking for a reason to support McCain and/or not vote for Obama, and they're willing to ignore the 'stretching of the truth', then this hurts Obama. This certainly applies to many Republicans. After all, we saw how effective the Swiftboating was in 2004.

The question is, have American voters learned anything from the past 8 years.

LCY - read the quote next time before insulting other people.
MIKE HUCKABEE: Palin "got more votes running for mayor of Wasilla, Alaska..."
That is a whopper of a lie.

Kristina Said:

Remember Ralph Nader? Would you vote for him for president?

We Answered:

Depends on who he was running against. Not against Ron Paul.

Since I wouldn't vote for McCain, the question is whether Nader would be better than the Dem nominee if Ron Paul doesn't run. At this point I only know his consumer activism, but I know he had something to do with FOI, and I think the government is entirely too shrouded in secrecy right now, and that is in his favor. I don't know anything that would make me vote for him except a rumor that he supports the constitution ( which I do question a bit since OSHA etc doesn't seem like a power reserved to the federal government). I'd have to look at it more before November.

Brett Said:

How much did the taxpayers end up spending to pay for their new President?

We Answered:

In the coming months you will see the masses that put this man in office are going to suffer from serious buyers remorse and see that he is just an empty suit with empty promises.

When any politician aligns themselves with fringe groups, especially those connected to what amounts to urban terrorism, we are in a sad state of affairs.

Herman Said:

Why would anyone call a plan full of pork a stimulus plan?

We Answered:

the Dem's have loaded this plan with the programs that they failed to get over the last forty years. they are trying to make us swallow now.

these allocations below have nothing to do with stimulating the economy or creating jobs. they just increase government and entitlements.

600 million for new cars for the federal government

$1 billion “to minimize under counting of minority groups” in the 2010 census

$400 million for NASA for global warming

$400 million for “National Treasures”

$6 billion for colleges/universities, many of which have massive billion dollar endowments

$166 billion in direct aid to states, many of which have failed to budget wisely

$650 million more for digital television conversation [sic] coupons

$6 billion to colleges some of which already have endowments? $1 billion to “process improve” the next census?

35 Million for stds

$5.2 Billion to ACORN

he did concede to take out the allocation for us to pay for foreign countries abortions. at lease that is something but not enough.

why is Obama so admament to bring republicans on board to his stimulus plan as he has enough votes to pass it without them.
think of the amazing PR they will get if it succeeds. people will sing their praises for years and this would assure them of elections for
years to come.

many of us believe that the dems know this will fail to do what they have told us it will do and do not want to take the blame alone.
they want to say that it was a bi-paritisan plan so all must share in the blame.

the liberals have screamed about the huge deficit for years and now suddenly they are silent about that issue and see nothing wrong with this huge addition to the deficit. ironic.

this translates to each citizen could be given approximately 3000 dollars to spent, just think how that would really stimulate the economy.

Carl Said:

Why are liberals always bad-mouthing Ralph Nader? Doesn't he have a right to run for President?

We Answered:

Yes, he has a right but he, just like everyone else knows that it's a waste of time.

Dean Said:

Just one example of the lies?

We Answered:

He was being ironical
