What is a reasonable amount of time to count 11,000 "early" ballots?

We Answered:

Hope this won't break your heart ...or anyone elses, but it takes a little more time to "jigger" the votes/ballots, so that your side wins.

pleaseeeeeeeeeee helpp, 10 pointsss?? how would i summarize this?

We Answered:

What is the point of your summation? Are you trying to shorten the story for a reader? Or use the story to support another argument?

Get rid of the wordiness ....break it into simple sentences. Strike through the "junk". And rearrange the important facts. Who, What, and to a lesser extent Where/When make up the vital pieces of your paragraph. Quotes can make the story more interesting but they are not essential.

So - for example ....

A former campaign aide, Christi Carpenter, claims that State Sen. Michelle McManus (R-Lake Leelanau) directed her to break election law and then coerced her to sign a false affidavit to conceal that illegal act in 1998. The illegal act? - Carpenter signed her name to dozens of nominating petitions that had been circulated by other people. When opponents challenged the validity of the petitions, Carpenter said, McManus pressured her to sign a false affidavit stating that she had circulated the petitions. Carpenter, who was 18 at the time, said that McManus told her she would face criminal charges if she did not sign.

Or is the point of your summation the fact that McManus has a "supposed" history of campaign violations. Only you can say. I'd definitely delete all of the party candidates listed at the end - not relevant.

What do people think about this news article and Mormons?Petition urges LDS Church to soften stance on gays?

We Answered:

If you are LDS then you believe marriage is between a man and a woman, If you are a homosexual then you believe marriage can be between a man and man or a woman and a woman. The LDS church members do not condemn or punish homosexuals they just do their best to stand up for their beliefs. If you believe in God then ask him what is right. If you are LDS you follow the teachings because you believe God is leading the church. People should believe what they want to. People shouldn't belong to a church if they don't believe its teachings. So LDS members should be LDS members and Homosexuals should Homosexuals, since their beliefs differ. Believe what you want to. Stand up for what you want to. Just don't condemn others for what they believe. God gave you your agency, use it.
