Local Election Ballot

Marvin Said:

What are some effects of negative campaign ads on national or local elections or ballot proposals?

We Answered:

I think the most interesting thing is that both Hillary and McCain ran very negative campaigns and lost. Hopefully, we will see an end to the Gingrich/Atwater school of scorched earth campaigning.

Jon Said:

How do you look up an upcoming election ballot in your local area?

We Answered:

Hi If you punch in your city ,county, or state on SEARCH, you will find out all the issues that will appear on your ballot locally and state wide. The offices and candidates that are running for them.Good Luck ROSCO

Douglas Said:

Do you generally vote on all the little Amendments and local people on your ballot?

We Answered:

I vote for every amendment and every person running for a local position, as well as the judges, which is very, very hard because I don't know some of them and have no idea which one to choose.

One thing is for sure, you sure can't trust Florida in a vote. Maybe the mistake there was just in the television reporting, but it sounds as if Florida vote-counters are up to their old Hanging Chad tricks again.

I am surprised that the Gays do not demand a recount.

Josephine Said:

How does someone get their name on a ballot for a local election ?

We Answered:

Go to the website for your county BOE (Board of Elections). Every state and every race is different. Some only require a registration, however most require you to have a certain number of signatures from the party you plan on running in or from the jurisdiction at large. Some positions have filing fees, others do not.

If you have a party affiliation, it also helps to go meet with the County Party for their advice and help on running the election and gathering the signatures.

Marion Said:

Why should local governments provide election ballots in other languages to for those who cant understand ENG?

We Answered:

Because it is every citizen's right to vote with reasonable accommodation. If they got their papers a month ago, are they expected to know as much English as a native? Don't think so.

Poll taxes, land ownership... language barriers are just one more attempt to disenfranchise AMERICAN citizens from exercising their RIGHTS. You don't like it? Take it up with the Constitution.
