Ding Dong. There are ID requirements for mail in ballots. In the state of California, either the last four of your social security number or your CA identification number is required to register. The State validates your registration after that and confirms you are eligible to vote. The only time you might need your id when voting, is if you are a first time voter. Most of those will put a copy of their id in with their ballot when they mail it in. Your signature is your id. If you are State validated and we have a signature on file for you, we can process a vote by mail ballot. We hand verify every signature on every envelope against your voter record. It takes forever, but that is why we have 28 days to certify our elections.You are identified according to your voter record and your signature, so there is an id method in place. In California, it is strictly regulated and I know Oregon works the same way.

If you return your mail ballot without signing the oath on the envelope your County Auditor will contact you by mail. You will need to return a signed oath prior to the day before certification of the election for your ballot to be counted. If your unsigned envelope is returned within three business days of certification or you have not responded to the Auditor's mailing within three business days of certification, the County Auditor will attempt to contact you by telephone.Vera Said:
