Massachusetts Primary Ballot

Penny Said:

How many receipt-less voting machines are used nation-wide?

We Answered:

None in California./ They have been outlawed. And should be across the United States. No more Diebold Presidents, let us look to elect American Presidents from here on out.

Will Governor Linda Lingle (R) decide in favor of same-sex marriage? Do Hawaiians care? 10 points?

We Answered:

I don't know what Lingle will do; I can't read her mind. I do know the following, however:

*Hawaii is a strongly Democratic state, though Lingle calls herself a Republican
*Lingle herself is gay
*Lingle is the outgoing governor.

I am an employee of the Hawaii Dept. of Education. Lingle has angered MANY people in this state over the past nine months as she has chopped the education budget and instituted 17 school furlough days for the 2009-10 school year. We are still waiting to hear whether or not there will be furloughs during the 2010-11 school year. Kids missed nearly 10% of their school days this year (17 out of 180) and I lost out on nearly 10% of my pay. Besides that, Lingle has done some other shady things during her tenure as governor. She overrode the state law for an Environmental Impact Study (EIS) for the now-defunct Hawaii SuperFerry. Now the state is out millions of dollars for the ferry AND it is gone, so it cost us money for NOTHING.

I hope that Lingle does see this as an equality issue, because that's what it is. Regardless of what she does, it won't affect her personally as she is on her way out of the governor's mansion.

Is Massachusetts an open primary state?

We Answered:

It is a modified primary state.
You can only vote for one candidate (either D or R).
If you are a registered Democrat you may only vote in the Democrat primary.
If you are a registered Republican you may only vote in the Republican primary.
If you are registered as neither however, you may choose which parties primary you wish to vote in, and once chosen you may only vote in that parties primary.

You should also be aware that choosing one will likely change your party registration to the parties primary you choose (ie. if you are independent, and choose to vote in the Democratic primary...you are then after a registered Democrat). I am not absolutely certain that Massachusetts does this anymore however...so on this question you will have to ask the person when you go to vote, or check with your county clerks office if that concerns you.

you cant be serious, there is no way to know since they come and go, and give it up. That was years ago and its a moot point. Get on with life and forget it now.
