Angela Said:

Should any legislation be passed after the Nov. election?

We Answered:

Let's take a moment to think about this. People are focused on the wrong things concerning the Mid-term elections. Will the Republicans take the House? That is as close to a sure thing as it can get. But that is not what matters. What matters is if the Republicans take the House with a mandate. Right now, that seems to be the case.

The Tea Party has succeeded in putting the Republican Party on notice that they will not tolerate Representatives in the House who are not Conservative. They have succeeded in defeating a number of Liberal Republican incumbents in Primaries and special elections. This has successfully reestablished the Republican brand as the Conservative choice.

So, if the voters elect Republicans they are saying they reject Progressivism. If they elect Republicans in areas that are traditional Democrat strongholds, that supports the mandate. If they elect Republicans in record numbers, it will be about as clear a mandate as possible.

If the Republicans take the House with such a mandate, it does not matter what happens in the Senate. Few Democrat Senators who will be running in 2012 will be willing to continue to stand in the way of the Will of the People which is what a mandate is.

If there is the Tsunami I expect in the House, clearly establishing a mandate for Conservativism, it is highly unlikely that the lame duck Democrats will pass legislation that will force the Democrats in the Senate to have to take a side.

This is why voter turn out is so important. Sometimes people think that since the Republicans will win big there isn't any reason to vote. That is incorrect thinking. Everyone knows the Republicans will win but if you really care about changing things in Washington, you must send Republicans there with a mandate. A huge voter turn out is not just over-kill. It provides the courage, ammunition and confidence our Conservative Republican Congressmen need when the going gets tough.

Roland Said:

On election day (nov 2), how do you vote for senate, gov...?

We Answered:

First, make sure you are registered to vote. Check with your local town hall on how to to that or search on voter registration. This will give you a voter's registration card. This card will also tell you where you vote.

Only the representative election for your district where you live, your Senators and any local positions for your town, township, county or state will be on the ballot, assuming they are running at this time. You should be able to get a list of who's running from your local election boards. There might be some local referendums too.

Keep in mind that Election Day (the first Tuesday after the first Monday of November) is really there for federal elections. States might piggy-back local elections then too, but they can be held anytime. You have to keep your ears tuned for state and municipal elections. They don't get the coverage as federal elections do.

Sounds like you are trying to be a responsible voter, good for you! Keep in mind, all issues has a superficial, emotional surface to them. Too many people look at just that or exploit it. Peal back the layers and look at the guts of the issues. Go to the source for the information. Don't reply solely on a pundit of one political philosophy to define who the "other guy" is. The truth lies somewhere between the two.

Ask questions. If someone is not providing the answers, why not? Some things are sometimes blown way out of context or proportion (that's part of that emotional surface), keep that in mind too.

You'll do OK.
