Ohio Voting Ballot

Mathew Said:

I'm in Ohio,.How do I get something on the voting ballot?

We Answered:

Sounds like you're talking about an Initiated Statute

What is an Initiated Statute?
If a citizen feels that an issue he or she feels strongly about is not addressed properly (or at all) in the Ohio Revised Code, they can follow the procedures outlined in the Ohio Constitution and Revised Code (below) to submit a proposed law (statute) to the people of Ohio for a statewide vote.

The following are elements of the process... See the link below for details.
1. Create Petitioners Committee
2. File Initial Petition with Ohio Attorney General and Secretary of State
3. Create Petitions & Gather Signatures
4. Signature Requirements
5. Filing Deadline and Filing Fee
6. Ohio General Assembly
7. Supplemental Petition
8. Signature or Petition Challenges
9. Ballot Arguments
10. Effective Date

Christopher Said:

Hey everyone that lives in OHIO...how are you voting on the "sick day" bill?

We Answered:

I am voting NO. What a employer does with sick leave with his employees is his own business. The government does not have the right to interfere. The government is not paying the employees wages and should keep its nose out of private business. The government has too much control of our lives as it is, I am voting NO.

Jaime Said:

In ohio, is it true that if you don't vote on every issue, your ballot is voided?

We Answered:

No. A vote of "no confidence" (refusing to vote for a person because you do not think he or she would do a good job) is a valid choice. Your ballot will still be counted.

Albert Said:

What will my Ohio ballot look like?

We Answered:

Usually, the local newspapers have sample ballots in their papers a few days before the elections.

Look for them then.

Craig Said:

Is it not suspicious that Florida and Ohio-Michigan are places that "repeatedly" have voting problems?

We Answered:

Notice the only thing that they all have in common is that they are screwed up on the DEMOCRATS side, the republicans seem to know how to use the voting machines and to cast a ballot, hell even with the changing of the primary dates they still have their delegates seated. The democrats could learn a voting lesson from these Republican foes, if not, then I am sure they will lose more elections and claim voter disenfranchisement.
