Primary Election Ballot

Margie Said:

whats the lowest filing fee to get on ANY ballot?SC man won primary election by paying the fee, then do nothing?

We Answered:

In my state, $20 (mayor 5th/6th class city*, legislator 5th/6th class city*, and school board).

*A 5th class city is an incorporated city with a population from 1,000-2,999. A 6th class city is an incorporated city with a population of 999 or less.

Johnnie Said:

The primary's are over, can I still get my name on the election ballot?

We Answered:

It's too late to get on the ballot but you could become a write in candidate. Good luck

Despite the Republican-heavy election, it still is possible voters could write two different candidates onto the board, Franklin County Chief Deputy Clerk Jean Byers said.

Voters always can write in names on a ballot in any election, primary or general, she said.

It is more difficult for a write-in candidate to win an election, but it is not uncommon, Byers said.

Clifton Said:

for the florida primary election will there be other local elections on the ballot that day too?

We Answered:

Depends what County you live in, but the whole State is voting on "Property tax limitations"

Look up on the web your County " Supervisor of Elections"

Jennifer Said:

When a candidate drops out of an election, does the name still appear on the primary ballot in certain states?

We Answered:

Yes---there's a certain cut-off date (basically when the ballots are printed!) BEFORE the election when a candidate can drop out.
We had a local candidate DIE 3 weeks before the election and we had 1 day..ONE DAY..literally the 12 hours after he died...to either leave his name on the ballot OR pick a replacement and submit that name to the County Clerk's office.

BTW--if John Edwards had "true fortitude", he'd still be in the race and not have DROPPED OUT! true fortitude, that's funny.

Janet Said:

When will we know the winner of the primary election?

We Answered:

It could end as early as this Tuesday, when McCain is expected to officially win and losing either Texas or Ohio would be fatal to Hillary's campaign. It wouldn't be...except the next contest is over a month away, and she's already leading by just six points, down more than half from just a few weeks ago. At that rate, Pennsylvania could turn into a huge defeat for her by the time April 22nd came around, as she has rarely moved up in polls in any significant fashion this entire campaign. Time strongly favors Barack Obama.
