That is a twisted version of the facts. Obama wants union members to be able to choose to join a union merely by using a check off card instead of going through an election. That would be beneficial to unions attempting to organize because an election would not be necessary. It has absolutely NOTHING to do with eliminating secret ballots, rather it has to do with enabling a far simpler method of choosing to be in a union. THAT is why Republican and business groups are against it because they KNOW that it would eliminate an obstacle in organizing a company's employees.

Edit to add: Sorry, but this has nothing to do with secret ballots. This has to do with check cards being used to indicate one's wish to join a union instead of forcing the organization of an election in order to get it done. It is about making it easier to organize. That is the real argument. They want to do away with the current system and replace it with check cards. They are not trying to get rid of secret ballots in union elections at all. If that were true, then they would have proposed elimination of secret ballots in union elections. Instead, they are proposing getting rid of the need for elections to organize the employees into a union. Understand?
