Write In Ballot

Neil Said:

Could Hillary win a write in on the Ballot?

We Answered:

No, not anyone can be a write in. A write in must be a qualified write in candidate, meaning they go through all the same paper work that the candidates on the ballot go through, just that the write in's name does not appear on the ballot. Typically a write in will miss candidacy filling for whatever reasons and ballots have already been sent to the printers. The write in candidate must still file the appropriate paper work and commence candidacy. They have a much more difficult job ahead of them, as they must campaign enough to literally "engrave" their name in the voters mind. It is up to the voter to remember to write in that candidates name.

It is a misconception that a voter can write in any ones name. Those write ins our not counted, tallied, or even noted. Basically your threw your vote away.

The person must be a qualified write in or the vote towards them does not count

Minnie Said:

At an annual meeting of an association, can you reconcile a mailed ballot procedure with alternate delegates?

We Answered:

This all depends upon the bylaws of the association. It is the same with corporations - so many people vote by proxy that a candidate running from the floor or a proposition not on the ballot has little chance. Also, usually there are so many ballots that the only way for the association to maintain the process would be for electors to choose to vote by proxy (mailed ballot) or in person, but not allow late changes to this choice.

Still, even large corporations see small, independent initiatives from some little old lady show up on the ballot, so by reading the bylaws and following the process, you can most anything onto the ballot.

Kent Said:

How come Bob Barr isnt on the CT ballot? Not even as a write-in?

We Answered:

Because an incompetent judge refused to allow liberty to prosper in her state...BOTTOM LINE.

Alfred Said:

Could Gore win by write-in ballot?

We Answered:

If that movement happened and gained strength, the Republican would win. All it would do is take votes away from the Democrats canidate.

Keith Said:

How do I vote in Arizona? Early Write in Ballot?

We Answered:

Okay, I don't believe there's such a thing as an "early write in ballot." Believe you must have an absentee ballot there, but it sounds as if it's for a primary election, since those are the ones for which you can choose electors. In that case, you are way too late. All of the primaries were over some time ago. You need to try to get an absentee ballot for the national elections of 11/4/08. From where did you get the ballot you have? Ask them to send you what you need now. Good luck, and vote for Obama, the patron saint of the semi-helpless, that's what I'm going to do.

Gerald Said:

If I live in NH and I want to vote for the Libertarian Party, whose names do I write in the ballot?

We Answered:

Both parties of New Hampshire, and the official party for the federel level (LP) share the same ideals, but they perform on different levels, and vote the same . If you wish to vote for the local level, you vote on who nominated from the LPNH. If you wish to vote for the federal level, meaning the President, you'll need to vote for Bob Barr, because he was nominated by the Libertarian Party. You know, I don't vote because I think the system is rigged, but if you think your vote counts, go ahead and vote on why and who best represents your ideals.
