2004 Presidential Candidates

Leonard Said:

Has Howard Stern endorsed either of the presidential candidates?

We Answered:

I think he is leaning towards Obama mainly because he dislikes Sarah Palin. He has not made any official endorsements.

Harold Said:

maiden name of teresa kerry wife of 2004 presidential candidate?

We Answered:

Her birth name is Maria Teresa Thierstein Simões-Ferreira. She was married to the late U.S. Senator H. John Heinz III before marrying John Kerry.

Miguel Said:

Why Al Gore wans't presidential candidate in 2004 ?

We Answered:

I'm American and I don't know why we chose Kerry. There were 2 other VERY good candidates. I'd have voted for Edwards for sure....or Dean. And honestly, I think Kerry would have made a good president. Kerry would have been a good candidate, and probably would have won had he defended himself from all the attacks but he made a choice to take the high road and not stoop to character bashing....he stuck with that choice and look where it got him. But....you gotta be able to look yourself in the mirror in the morning right? So if it was what he felt he had to do...then that's what he had to do - but I doubt he'll do it again if he runs in 08!

As for why Gore didn't run in 04, he has said that he felt another Bush v. Gore would be too divisive for the country, and it would be brutal and expensive.

He's kind of dull, but what does that have to do with being president? I think he'd be a good choice.

Who knows, maybe he'll try again in 08.

and Salebuci...or whatever - Gore did not lose big time. He won the popular vote and would have had the election if one SC judge would have voted the other way. THAT is hardly a "bigtime" loss.

Jacob Said:

How come the best presidential candidates never seem to make it out of the primaries?

We Answered:

This is a great question. It speaks to a fundamental weakness in our political process. George W. Bush (or more accurately the people behind W) ran a more effective campaign against both McCain and Kerry. In both cases he used the media to undermine his opponents credibility. His campaign cut down McCain in the early rounds of the primary I think it was in North Carolina. Against Kerry, they used the "flip flop" argument because Kerry tried to argue against Bush's Iraq folly after voting to give the President the authorization to use force.

We elect people who are better at getting nominated by their parties and then at getting electoral college votes. Sometimes these characteristics translate into strong leadership qualities; other times you get guys like W (or if you are a Republican, guys like Clinton.)

Greg Said:

As was done in the 2004 presidential elections is it illegal to have political candidates give taped broadcast

We Answered:

I would say that a church could take about specific issues and even specific candidates as long as church funds are not used to support a party or candidate. Also if a Republican is allowed to address the congregation one week, the Democratic and all other major opponents should get the opprotunity in the next weeks. I have no problem with a church endorsing a candidate as long as they do not give free publicity in the form of addressing the congregation, gifts, or money to any campaign.
