2009 Presidential Candidates

Betty Said:

Could you please revise this sentence to make it more understandable?

We Answered:

Judging by the lack of new figures emerging as potential presidential candidates in 2008, one can only surmise that the current election is simply a recycling of the 2004 election.

Whatever way you go, if you are referring to the U.S. presidential election, which I assume you are, it is the 2008 election. Although the elected president will not take office until January, 2009, the election is actually held in November, 2008. There is no 2009 presidential election.

Ken Said:

Is there a presidential aspirant who has a concrete plan to mitigate the effects of climate change?

We Answered:

From the roster, it will be Villar only because Legarda, the local champion of the green movement, is her running mate. As to platform or concrete program, I haven't read or seen any.

Jon Said:

Which Presidential candidate do you NOT want to see in the White House in 2009?

We Answered:

On the Republican side:
McCain (most opposed to)
Brownback
Hagel

On the Democratic side:
Obama (most opposed to)
I would prefer none of the Democrats but if I had to have one I suppose I would go with Hillary Clinton (at least as it is opposed to alternative frontrunners) or Joe Biden (but Biden isn't likely to be their nominee).

If I could only "veto" one candidate from either party it would be Obama. I think he is far too inexperienced to be President of the United States. I do not want more incompetence.

Bradley Said:

If China invades Russia or India, what is the appropriate response from the United States of America?

We Answered:

China and India wow that would be interesting. The appropriate response is ask the Indians if they need any guns etc. on day 2 ask the Chinese. Dont give either of them the good high tech stuff just the cheap junk they normally sell to us.
We need to let them go broke killing for resources for a while. Then start selling them ethanol.

Tony Said:

Increasing oil prices and presidential candidates' solutions?

We Answered:

Only free market forces will create a solution.

You expect too much from government. Governments are not proactive. In fact the government seems to be more interested in corporate charity than helping our energy consumption addiction.

Why does the government need to mandate ethanol if it is a good idea? Ethanol mandates are a moral hazard. The poor have their food prices increased to support the SUV energy consumers and farmers.

A better solution already exists:

Joel Said:

Why did this photo cause a presidential candidate to lose an election?

We Answered:

Dukakis ran a terrible campaign against a guy with strong winds behind him.

You have to look at Dukakis out of the tank to understand how stupid it looks. A dorky little dweeby guy suddenly rolls along in a tank looking like a 4 year old kid on a joy ride, a photo stunt, backfires...

You have to have been there during the campaign. The imagery, the timing, where he was in the process. It was his Howard Dean moment, which out of context doesn't look as insane as it was in context.

Bobby Said:

With these presidential candidates what would happen in Iraq?

We Answered:

McCain would continue and finish the job.
Romney I'm unsure I haven't heard much about this on him.
Clinton and Obama would cut and run like Democrats usually do when something is unpopular.
