California Primary Election Candidates

Bob Said:

Isn't time to have a more fair primary election system?

We Answered:

The point of the early primaries and caucuses is to give the people a chance to get to know the candidates. After the first few, I think they should all vote on the same day and get it over with . I am totally sick of the whole thing.

Christine Said:

Can I vote in person on the Feb 5th CA primary election? I am registered to vote by mail as an independent.?

We Answered:

The California Primary is a Modified Closed Primary, so unaffiliated/Independent voters can only vote in the Republican and Democratic Primaries if the parties allow them to. Check with your state (http://www.declareyourself.com/voting_fa… )to see if these decisions have been made yet and if you can vote in person even though you have already received your ballot in the mail. Chances are, though, you will only be able to vote by mail. It is already too late to re-register to vote as the deadline to register to vote before the Primaries was last week.

Marion Said:

California state primary elections are tomorrow... Clinton, Obama, Romney, McAin??? Who should I vote for ??

We Answered:

well to vote republican in cali- you have to be a registered republican. i live in california and i am voting romney. here is why- i like his stance on immigration and health care, and his record for fiscal resposibilty and what he can and has done for the economy and global warming are very impressive.

why I refuse, under ANY circumstances to vote mc cain. He has flip flopped more than any of them- and worse, he has done it DURING the campaign!! Not to mention the outright lies he has been caught saying, and ridiculed for in the media-but continues to say them.

economy- does not have a clue!!! has even admitted it himself! says he would have to rely on other people to tell him what to do with the economy- what? the same people that drove into a hole to begin with!!!??? is he serious?!

illegal immigration- has been for amnesty the entire 21 years he has been senator of arizona. an estimated 5,000 illegals cross through arizona EACH DAY!! 1.6 million a year!

war- his leg that he stands on, and yet even that has been criticized by those who are serving in iraq right now!! some of the lines he has been feeding potential voters have drawn laughs from troops, and deep concern from those in iraq, wondering if he is really that dilusional- or just very out of touch!

taxes/conservative values- mc cain's record reads more like a democrats, and democrats have even said they welcome working with mc cain, because his views are not that different from their own!! he has done more to hurt the repub. party than help, including voting against tax cuts!

Travis Said:

Should the set up of primary elections be changed to allow equal opportunity for people to vote for any party?

We Answered:

I voted by absentee ballot and voted YES on Prop 14. I registered as a Non Partison but the Election Board told me I had to vote for either Repub or Dem. or I would not have voted at all. We have a closed primary rigged to persuade everyone to stick to the two main parties. That is one reason a third party cannot win in these circumstances. I wanted to vote for Ron Paul in the 2008 primary but I was not a Repub and would not switch and California does not recognize the national Independent party so I had no vote. The only stipulation with Prop 14 is that candidates don't have to reveal their party affiliation but if you know the person you know his party.

Hector Said:

I need help with a mock election for school - what is the best way to win votes and get my candidate nominated

We Answered:

Not enough info. Who's deciding who wins what states? Other students? What are they basing their votes on?
