California Republican Governor Candidates
Chad Said:
Could Republicans win California?We Answered:
There was a primary election in California's 10 on tuesday. There were five Democrats who got a total of 65% of the vote. Total up the six Republicans and you get 34%. Most of the remaining 1% went to lefty (i.e. Green & Peace and Freedom party) candidates. This district has gone republican in the past and is demographically representative of the state as a whole.
As it stands today, there is no sign of California going Republican.
The growth and demographics are against it ever becoming Republican. The state swings between Dem and Republican in the governors mansion, but there is no chance of them swinging right in the presidential.
California has a growing population of minorities and young people. The only reason Arnold got elected was because he swings left on many issues and his opponent was pathetic.
Prop 8 was a single issue and decided largely on religious grounds. The biggest mistake right wingers make is thinking that they know how someone will vote based on a single issue. That is rarely the case.
