One point first, CA doesn't have a debt problem, it has a budget deficit problem.
Although I am not totally satisfied with Jerry Brown, he is at least a known quantity and is much less liberal than what he was before. At least he has been around the block while Whitman has been on the other side of town in her chauffeured limo.
I have a big problem with people trying to buy an election (the same thing goes for Carly Fiorina aka one of "The 20 Worst American CEOs of All Time").
The biggest problem with California is the legislature and being influenced by big business. The republicants adopted a policy of saying no to everything, similar to what is going on in Washington, years before it started in DC. And the dems don't have a full majority to pull it off.
One of my several fears of Whitman is how is she going to make that $108+ million back. She is a businesswoman and wouldn't invest in something she didn't think she would gain a profit. She just likes California, no, she is a native of Long Island NY. The only answer that makes sense it that she is going to make it back off the backs of the taxpayers.

I will give one more fear of mine. Qualifications. Being a business person is not a good qualification for running a government. Why? Because a businesswoman's job is to maximize income (taxes) while reducing expenses (services to the public). The job of a government leader is to provide all the needed services to the public and even strive to find more ways to serve them while keeping within the budget. So the roles are actually opposite of each other. z
