Sadly I think he is right. And we seem to be somewhere in the area of complacency and apathy. We probably passed the "abundance" phase during our high point spanning from post WWII to the 80's.

The Roman empire followed a path just like that until its collapse. They lasted longer than 200 years, but maybe they were the exception. Either way they followed that path until collapse.

I agree. I think we should change the law so that if people get more money in government welfare than they pay in taxes, then they shouldn't be allowed to vote. It's a conflict of interests. Poor people could still vote if they don't take welfare. But if they take more than they pay, then how my money is spent is none of their business.
