I don't like Meg Whitman, but she supports limited government and that is great. Anyone who thinks that spending less and cutting taxes will stimulate the economy has my vote on the state level. Also, since the Dems will likely win the state house and senate, there absolutely needs to be some gridlock by a Republican governor. This will ensure fair redistricting and more compromise on such things as the debt and budget.

It looks like your choice is going to be between Meg Whitman and Jerry Brown. That wouldn't be a hard choice for most people because they are very different. It depends on whether you're conservative or liberal, Republican or Democrat.

Jerry is the only candidate (I think) running for the Democratic nomination. Meg is running against Steve Poizner, but by the amount of ads she's running against him on TV I gather she has a LOT more money and Poizner is toast. Could be wrong about that, but that's how it looks.

I will vote for Brown because (a) I'm a liberal and (b) he has many MANY years of experience, and when he was out of politics he did a radio show I listened to every day and I got to really like him.

Whitman is a successful business woman who feels she has the skills to run a state. She says "I know how to meet a budget. I know how to cut costs." etc. but those are the same things Gov. Arnold said. He thought it would be easy to get our state govt. to work together just because he was -famous-. Whitman is saying all the same things. No real plan yet.

(Actually I don't really blame Arnold. I think he really has done a creditable job, but he hasn't really -succeeded-. He didn't realize what he was up against!)

But realize that our state govt is just about paralyzed by competing special interests. They don't really get very much done. All the real big laws in California come through the initiative process, which is a way for anyone with the money to buy just about any law they want.

the people that are running are Meg Whitman and Jerry Brown. whitman is against the law that lets illegal immigrant students go to school. in one commercial she said that she was in favor for amnesty and now she says that she is against. she is in favor of the arizona immigration law. jerry brown has been trying to raise taxes for a long time though and he used to be the governor back in like the 70's.
