The dropout rate thing: Chicago Tribune reports: "Chicago, the third largest school system, had a 52.2 percent graduation rate." That would mean roughly half off all students drop out. This was in 2006.

I am in a similar situation. 24 year old female, by Freeport, IL with a 2 year old son. I have no job (there aren't any out there, keep applying though), and my only income is the food stamps I get (you should apply for them, they'd at least help you with getting food besides what WIC gives and health insurance for you and your boy {possibly your son's father if you are all three living together}. just go to your local health department, or call them, and they should tell you where to go to apply for a LINK card and/or medicaid.) I just started attending college online through the University of Phoenix. I filled out my fafsa in the middle of October and still was approved for the Pell Grant. Unfortunately, I had to take out a loan for the rest of school (UOP is kinda expensive, I wish I thought about a community college beforehand, but I honestly have no money for gas, so that wouldn't work out too well either..). The loan I got for school is not based on credit, so if you have bad credit at all or are on the Chex system with a bank, you can still be approved. The Stafford loan is what its called. You have to pay it back when you are done with school, but don't have to pay a thing until like six months after you graduate (unless you fall below a half-time student or drop out). It's something to look into. I recommend choosing a school you'd like to go to first, then contacting their financial aid department. They should be able to tell you any and all scholarships/grants that you can apply for and how to do them/where to find them. I hope things work out for you. :)

First let us get the language correct. The people that are in this country with out the proper papers are ILLEGAL ALIENS NOT IMMIGRATES Immigrates are people who are welcome to come to this country. Yes I think all of the protesters should be arrested checked for their legal status and given the opportunity to go home if they are citizen of this country, or go to jail as a law breaker. Our school budget is all the talk here. We pay out for teachers who speak spanish to teach spanish speaking alleges and their children in spanish the subjects needed to complete their education (english is taught as a second language) I say if these kids do not speak english then they are not ready for school. he feds mandate the kids must be in school, then the FEDS should pick up the entire budget for these kids education. Tell all of these bastards what is going to happen to them and maybe or just maybe some will return to MX before the 90 days are here. MX should not threaten the US or Arizona they should be interested in keeping the mexicans in MX and the harm that comes to the central americans that MX rape, rob and kill on the southern border..
