General Election 2010 Candidates

Phillip Said:

Will fringe groups like the Birthers, the Truthers, and The Tea Party protesters push Moderate Republicans out?

We Answered:

Yes it is good for the Democrats. The more these crazy Right wing-nuts get involved the better, they are pushing moderates out and going for the far Right wacko candidates ---the Michelle Bachmann types are what they prefer. These can be easier beat then the Moderates! Yes they are baggin their own! Lol

Kay Said:

What do you think of North Carolina suing the U.S. Justice Dept. over the Voting Rights Act?

We Answered:

Naja, what's the problem. According to Cons here, the Republicans are the liberals, and the Democrats are the racists. Afraid of Blacks voting for the so-called racist democratic party?

Point is that most blacks know that the Democratic Party stands up for their interests and they want to know which candidates are from that party so as not to vote for some racist redneck republican.

Kathy Said:

What percentage of the United States aggregate population will not pay taxes in the year 2010?

We Answered:

Approximately 30% to 40% of all folks pay no Federal income tax. Obviously the 95% that would receive a tax "cut" under the Obama plan includes those folks. And as many of them will receive a refund of more than what they had withheld due to the EIC, Child Tax Credit and Additional Child Tax Credit, and since those increase automatically each year anyway they would be getting a "cut" (i.e. increase in negative tax) although including them in the 95% is a bit misleading. A more accurate number would be 90% of those who actually PAY any tax would see a decrease.

If you're interested in the tax impact of either candidate, you should use YOUR situation to see which plan would benefit YOU the most. Generally you would pay less tax under the Obama plan if your income is less than about $200k if single or $250k if married filing jointly. Of course, taxes are not the only reason that people vote for a particular candidate so even if you would pay less tax under Obama's plan there may well be personal reasons for you to not want to vote for him.

Foreign support for either candidate is irrelevant. They don't vote here or affect the outcome of the election. Both candidates enjoy support from outside of the US for one reason or another; don't let that cloud your judgment.

If you don't want to vote for Obama, then by all means don't vote for him. On the other hand, don't expect a lot of support for political views in this forum. We focus on tax problems for folks here, not politics. And also bear in mind that what a candidate proposes is little more than a wish list. Congress has to write the legislation; the president can only propose legislation. That said, with a looming increase in the Dem representation in Congress, including a good chance of a "super majority" in the Senate, a Dem candidate is much more likely to get what he wants. If the Dems have a veto-proof majority in Congress, it's pretty much irrelevant which party is in the White House.

Erica Said:

What do you think about the Supreme court's decision to allow unlimited Corporate spending on campaigns ?

We Answered:

Last week's ruling does not change Corporation's contribution limits to campaigns. It does allow them to spend freely on political ads, something individuals are also allowed to do.

Greens leader slams 'robber barons' @ £1,000 profit a sec BP, Centrica and Shell: demands a "Green New Deal"?

We Answered:

apologies for not reading your post in full, but 3 companies make 1000.00 per second profit, what exactly does that mean, these are global companies which deal in huge figures. 333.00 GBP per second per company is hardly massive considering that fact - i mean how much money gets traded on teh stock market per day - billions

it is not as if one person is pocketing 333.00 per second and i presume the green party supports high taxes on fuel (oh think about the dreadful carbon footprint) considering a vast percentage of money the consumer pays on fuel is tax - who exactly is the robber - and i dont think the green party would do a u-turn on this

you cannot take the greens seriously as they are a one policy party, and they dont seem to give a damn that the policies that they are spelling out are potentially ruinous to teh economy

at least that is what i think
