Both were average presidents.

Gerald Ford did his country a great favor in taking on the presidency with calm and dignity in the wake of Richard Nixon’s resignation. As I recall, there was a great sigh of relief when Nixon went, and Ford stepped up. He undid himself with his pardon of Nixon leaving the Watergate scandal unresolved, legally speaking.

This is a fascinating debate because Reagan was a highly divisive president who had a reputation, particularly among the liberal media, of intellectual laziness. The media and the left felt, he was a puppet carefully manipulated by Jim Baker, Michael Deaver and Donald Regan, not to mention a variety of others who sought to use him for their own political gain.

Nevertheless, he didn't dance to the Washington fiddle.

But....a great president by popular definition is one who exceeds the strictures of the Constitution, therefore Reagan only marginally qualifies as does Ford.

When analyzed, one finds that most of the smears flung by the Republicans had a strong factual base while that thrown by the Democrats, mainly at Gov Palin, were mostly emotive spins. But that has been the pattern for many years - the Republicans spin the facts to make them appear stronger and the Democrats keep slinging mud, no matter how ludicrous, in the hope that some of it will stick. Despicable but to the socialists running the Democratic Party, the ends justifies the means. The media has become a propaganda tool for the Democratic Party much like ACORN, a federally funded organization, has become a recruiting tool for them. Socialism is insidious. The media is part of the problem now so one should never be surprised by the lengths they will take to mislead - yellow journalism is back.

The President of the United States is not an entry level position at a Burger King.

The man has no qualifications. He is one of the least prepared candidates for the position in history.

The guy is a local activist who became a freshman senator only because Mosely-Braun was a crook. His entire Senate career has been spent as a back bencher proposing almost nothing in the way of new legislation.
