Marine Corp Officer Candidate School

Mabel Said:

Tips for joining the Marine Corp as an officer?

We Answered:

You'll be better off with the PLC program. You'll be commissioned as soon as you graduate and, if you go into the program as a freshman, your OCS training will be split into two summers. It will be much easier. Just stay in shape.

ROTC is for people attending OCS after college. It will look good on your record but you can't earn a commission while attending college.

Sam Said:

What are the benefits of joining the military after a Bachelor's Degree in Criminal Justice? (or any degree).?

We Answered:

Well the thing that sucks about joining the military now is that because of the war there's a high chance you could get deployed overseas.

However, the cool thing about joining the military after college is that you can enter as an officer, which is something you can't do if you don't have a bachelors degree.

I don't know specifically if you're given some sort of edge if you've been in the miltary and you're pursing a job in the criminal justice field, but being a veteran, or even retired gives you great benefits and priveledges that last your entire lifetime.

Is marine corp OCS different if your going into Aviation or JAG?

We Answered:

No, you can get an aviation or law guarantee but you'll go through the same OCS and Basic School as everyone else.

If you want to be a marine, you'll earn it.

applying for the OCS for USMC?

We Answered:

No Marine Corps officer can carry around an inhaler with him. If you can live without it, you might be able to get through medical screening. If you tell them you have asthma or breathing problems, or their tests determine you have asthma, that is your one-way ticket out. Period.

UCMJ Fraternization Policies?

We Answered:

As long as you can prove there is a prior relationship...there is nothing to worry about.

This issue comes up a lot with those that were enlisted and are now officers. Among my peers and I, It has been discussed more than I would like to admit.
