JP, To boycott or not to boycott, that is the question? Its true that Target has a history of being LGBT friendly and does provide limited benefits to same-sex partners of its employees. And, Target's 100 percent HRC rating was enough for several Christian organizations to call for boycotts of their own. HOWEVER, this donation is difficult to ignore. Tom Emmer is more than just your average antigay Republican. He drafted and supports a federal marriage amendment denying gay marriage permanently. He has added legislation to bills being considered just to discriminate against homosexuals. He financially supports the ministry of Minnesota Christian rocker, Bradlee Dean, who thinks Muslims who behead homosexuals are doing the right thing, and sings about gays being murdered. And let's not forget that Emmer himself is on the record saying that all homosexuals are deviants and on average molest over 100 people each. This is the man Target is supporting. A militant, anti-gay piece of crap. Someone who would ban gay rights, thinks homosexuals are molestors, and funds a ministry that calls for homosexuals to be killed. I think the question we have to ask ourselves is do I care enough to spend my money elsewhere? Does this matter to me? Does it matter that the money from my pocket could be going through Target to finance people like this? In my opinion, it should, and the pocketbook is the only place that matters to big businesses like Target. Until Target makes this right, I will not shop there. I don't care if I'm the only person on the planet boycotting. This donation is an attack on same-sex equality in lieu of profit margins and I'm not having it.
