Pa Primary Candidates

Lisa Said:

PA Projections?

We Answered:

Hillary will win in spite of the fact that Obama is outspending her 4 to1. That should be speaking volumes to people. He gets all of the positive media coverage, is outspending her and yet she continues to hang in there neck and neck. She will make an excellent President. More people need to realize before it is too late. Polls from other states are showing "buyers remorse" for voting for Obama. Notwthat they are more aware of who he really is, they regret their vote.

Warren Said:

Why doesn't the US have a national primary?

We Answered:

The purpose of a staggered primary is to give a greater voice to the smaller states. The larger states have greater influence in national elections, which are used to determine the actual president. The parties decided to give smaller states a greater say in electing who could run for president. The first primaries are all smaller states from different regions of the country, Iowa from the midwest, New Hampshire from the Northeast, Nevada from the west, and South Carolina from the South. This is a test so the party can see how the candidate does in front of each of the major regions of the country.
After that each state sets its own primary date. Many states preferred a later primary date so that local positions would not have such a long wait between the primary and the general election, but as the presidential position was often determined before they had their say, these states started moving their primary further ahead. Don't worry, Pennsylvania may very well be a significant state in determining the democratic presidential candidate.

Kenneth Said:

How much have the candidates been spending in NC & IN?

We Answered:

Really!!!!! so the media is so kind to Obama?? hmmm!!! Is that why they have nothing but Wright's statements all day long..

Ronnie Said:

when are each partys candidates chosen?

We Answered:

At there conventions this summer. But its mostly decided before then by the candidate that has won the most primaries. There hasn't been a real convention since 1960 when Kennedy became the democratic nominee.

Eddie Said:

How are ballot questions legal in a closed primary?

We Answered:

You need to contact your state senator and representatives. Also, send a letter to the editor of major PA newspapers expressing your concerns.

As to a sample ballot, the county clerk or League of Women Voters should be able to help you.

The link below gives information about the 2009 primary. There should also be one for the 2010 election. Good luck.

Remember, vote early and often.

Susan Said:

Why is PA one of the last states to vote in the primaries?

We Answered:

I agree 100%! I am also from PA and feel that the primaries are unfair in general. Why does Iowa of all places get the first choice in every primary?!? It doesn't seem to gel with the concept of a democracy. It should start somewhere different for every primary or at least begin in a state that is more representative of the country as a whole. Many political analysts are saying that the delegate vote will be so close that PA has a good shot at participating this year. Let's keep our fingers crossed.
