Right now there seems to be four high profile Republicans who will run for the nomination: Romney, Palin, Gingrich and Huckabee. Of those I don't see Palin or Huckabee winning. Palin has become something of a national joke over the last two years - a sort of Dan Quayle. Huckabee, if he runs, might win the Iowa caucus again, but his views alienate moderate and independent voters. Gingrich is serious this time, but he was very polarizing as Speaker of the House. I think he too will turn off moderates. So that leaves Romney. He is a Republican who was able to win statewide election in liberal Massachusetts so he appeals to moderates. I would consider him the front runner right now. And I think he would make an ideal candidate for the Republicans.

first, mitt romney refused a pay check when mass was in trouble as a show of good faith in his adminstrative abilities... so while rich, he is sensible and he only got rich because he understands these things. who better to 'fix' the economy?
as for huckabee, i don't really care for the religious right, but he is a good, intelligent man. still not sure who i would vote for tho.
to bad fred thompson has/had too many show buz issues w/ the equal time thing...
