Texas Republican Candidates

Carlos Said:

if i live in texas will I get to vote for the democratic and republican candidates?

We Answered:

Whichever you like, thats why its called voting.

Dwight Said:

how do democart and republican candidates get thier names on the texas primary ballot?

We Answered:

By filing paperwork with their state parties, which must be accompanied by petitions and/or fees.

The deadline for doing that in 2008 has already passed, however.

Cathy Said:

If you are from Texas, aren't you mad that your state had no say in the Republican Party's candidate choice?

We Answered:

Oh yeah, were pissed. But honestly we are kinda used to it. This is the first time since I have lived in Texas that the primarys really mattered. Now the world is hoping we can break a tie. Huckabee had alot of support here, but I don't know if they have given up. Romney had alot of support too. They are really not happy about McCain but I think they'll continue to support the Republican party.

Curtis Said:

Should the Minnesota Senate Seat go to the US Supreme Court to select the Republican candidate?

We Answered:

Funny how Republicans are once again fighting a recount in an important election. Republicans should be quite and allow the elections board handle its business.

Dennis Said:

Why is Texas such a republican state?

We Answered:

I live in Texas, and everyone in my family is Republican...I am the only white, male democrat for miles in my own county, talk about feeling like an outsider, I get along great with everyone, but when it comes to politics I bump heads with practically everyone. I think a previous answer best sums it up...when you're pulling in $80,000 a year and your mortgage payment is only $1,200 a month, what do you really have to complain about....other than the summer heat everything is great down here. City and county taxes are low, school and property taxes are low except for the richest neighborhoods (1-10 million dollar houses). I can only assume the majority of Texans are Christians and feel the need to vote Republican with their hearts, rather than their heads...although there might be hope for them yet. Yesterday 2/3 of that party voted down the Bush proposal for the economic bailout, that gave me signs that they sometimes do think.

Yvonne Said:

When was the last time Texas voted for a democratic candidate in US Presidential elections?

We Answered:

back in the 1960's
