I often wonder this myself.

I've only been able to come up with two conclusions:
1. They believe that humans must control every aspect of society through the use of force, threat and imprisonment by means of a centralized government.
2. They lack education about the alternative, which is freedom, individual liberty and a free market economy. They'll sit there and whine about how corporations are in control of everything but they don't understand how and why it got that way. They'll blame our corporatist system on unregulated capitalism and that's absolutely false.

Rupert, here in California home schooling is carefully monitored, but the state supreme court did rule in favor of the parents who want to home school their children. I hold a secondary life credential in English which includes five teachable subjects. I began to notice the dumbing down of our curriculum about 16-17 years ago. Don't count on that socialist Marxist guy being president. Cindy McCain's oatmeal cookie recipe won the Family Circle contest. Keep the faith.

Bias, probably. I imagine that most media members do have liberal leanings. However, the McCain camp got smart and decided that whenever the media questioned Palin about anything relevant to the election (darn those pesky issues), they would call it an attack or disrespectful instead of "good journalism" and then promptly cut off access.

No network wants to lose the big story, even if that "big story" is now a watered down fluff piece touting Palin's status as a hockey mom and her blue collar husband instead of discussing her foreign policy experience (or lack thereof). Seriously, is Charles Gibson really going to ask Palin about the bridge to nowhere, the $26 million in debt she accrued for Wasilla, her attempt at banning books or her ethics investigation?

What we see now is an American media afraid to do their jobs. What happened to the days of Woodward and Bernstein? Where are the reporters who are willing to risk jail time in order to maintain the secrecy of a source? It's a travesty that the once mighty, trustworthy, free media has now been turned into nothing but entertainment reporters and political puppets.
