Conservation Of Birds

Wayne Said:

How have conservation groups help to set aside areas of National Parks where logging is not permitted?

We Answered:

Logging in National Parks isn't permitted, period. Maybe you mean National Forests? Or conservation areas?

Lucille Said:

So was it really Government behind the mass bird kills?

We Answered:

Some will say it's natural and not to believe the media and you're an idiot.
But i say they need to stop believe everything the Government and science tells them.

I don't know what to make of it, I'll admit that.
Could be serious, could be nothing.

How can I earn money at home, living on a farmette?

We Answered:

I spent a while trying to weed out the different survey sites and the different sites that pay you to try things without trying to scam you.

I put together a blog for my friends (I figure I'd share it since I wish someone had put this together for me) and I listed the sites that didn't require me to go through pages of ads and that actually pay out cash and not points or entries into a sweepstakes.

I'd say that realistically if you spend about 2-3 hours a day and complete the surveys and offers for about 5-10 sites or even just to refer your friends that are tight on money now and then, you can average about $150- $250 a week. If you want to check it out my blog its:

There's no gimmick or money to spend (or credit cards!) just a way for you to make a few extra bucks. Hopefully this helps!

Conservation of Bird life?

We Answered:

It is the web of life. Everything is connected. The more we understand how individual species live, the more we will understand how the world works and how we can either help it continue, or at least what should be protected so that we cause the least amount of damage that we can. Surprisingly little things can turn around and harm great big things. It is our responsibility as caretakers of this Earth to CARE for it. Understanding it is the first step.

John Said:

what could people do to improve bird conservation effort?

We Answered:

Well, what kind of birds are you talking about?

If you are referring to geese and duck populations, forget about saying that they are declining in numbers. There are way, way too many geese for what the environment can handle...which is why hunting of them should be enforced. Reduce stamp prices, and offer incentives to farmers who own land within the migratory ranges.

If you are talking about raptors, there is always room for improvement upon their habitats and food sources.

If you are talking about song-birds...put up feeders, keep the squirrels away and build nesting boxes for the ones you can.

Upland game birds, habitat improvement is the key. That is the main reason why the pheasant declined to almost non-existent levels in the North East, because of lack of habitat. Farmers got greedy, expanded their fields and planted large areas of one crop and depleted the pheasant habitats. The whole "too many redtail hawks" excuse for declined pheasant numbers was not true at all, the farmers are to blame. Grouse populations might be declining as well due to the lack of desirable habitat. When landowners go to harvest timber, 99% of the time they do not include the biological factors within their timber harvest plan. Everything must be balanced, and when you remove a canopy in the uplands, you remove grouse habitat...but it's interesting, clear-cuts attract grouse because of the abundance of brush and debris which provides them cover and food. Strange things you can observe when you study these things.
