What is meant by conservation of resources(factors of production)? We Answered:
Yes is the answer to both questions. We must use the Earth's resources.Conservation of resources means using them in the most efficient way. This philosophy is also consistent with business practices which demand maximum return and in personal use which demands maximum economy.
Using resources to produce ones primary product or fulfill ones immediate needs is the seemingly selfish action.
It is the fore thought given to the existing conditions of the resource and the after thought given to the by-product of the removal and use of the resource that define conservation.
In business, conservation assures continued availability of the resource and profitability.
For the person, value placed in conservative use of the Earth's resources is rewarding in innumerable ways.
We must use the Earth's resources to exist.
Conservation of them serves us both.

What can you say about "Conservation of Resources" in Economics? We Answered:
A perfectly competitive market will conserve resources. Every firm is trying to minimize its cost and hence resource use, price is equal to the cost, and consumers will not buy if price is above the benefit of the product. So society gets maximum benefit out of its resources. If we ignore the benefits that we derive from resources, conserving them is best achieved by ceasing all economic activity and returning to primitive life.
"Saving resources for future generations" is not always a good idea either. In 19th century, rapid industrialization has used up most of the coal and metal ore that could be extracted using their technology. Are we worse off because of it? No, we are not.
B/c we have better technology today and can extract more coal and ore;
B/c we do not need as much coal and metal as they did (we have oil/gas and composite materials), B/c slowing down economic development back then would make us less developed today.

For some conservation of resources means the non-use of resources? We Answered:
It depends on the context. When wildlife habitats are concerned, conservation indeed means non-use or very limited use of resources (for example, there are only certain things you are allowed to do in national parks). In the context of commodity resources (oil, water, etc.) conservation means using less. In the context of renewable resources (such as lumber) conservation may actually mean replenishment (after cutting down the lumber, forestry companies seed the lots again). As to future generations and their standard of living, a lot depends on how many people those generations would include and how fast the technology will progress between now and then. So there is really no good answer to this part of your question; it all depends on the assumptions you make about what the future is going to be like...

what actions can people take in their daily lives to make wise choices in the use of conservation of resources? We Answered:
Here are some:1) Use less water to conserve it (by taking quick showers and planting native drought resistant plants. Turn the water off when brushing your teeth and men can shave with battery powered devices instead of the conventional water using way).
2) Recycle and reuse anything you can (so new resources wont be made from scratch and older resources can be reused.
3) Use less fuel for your car (walk to places where you can instead of driving).
4) Use less power /electricity (turn off computer screens, unplug any electronic that is not being used as they still suck up power, turn off unneeded lights and TVs).
5) Eat leftovers (to not waster food).
6) Follow these tips to save money! It is a resources :-)

Is it possible to reconcile economic progress and conservation of resources? We Answered:
Yes, absolutely. Resources can be used/take sustainably and responsibly such as shade grown organic coffee or wood produced under approval of the forest stewardship council. All these things produce jobs and of course boost the economy. However, at the present rate of consumption - no. The world cannot consume resources at the rate that the U.S., and China, are not expect to run out quickly as well quickly destroy the natural world. Economic progress can be made through responsible use of our resources but that' not what we are largely doing now. Sustainable growth may slow down growth a bit. People may need to have a slightly lower standard of living so for the sake of the whole. However, in no way do I believe that this means economic stagnation. When I think about how inventive and creative people are it blows my mind. Think of where we were just 200 years ago in terms of technology. Think of how far we've come in just 30 years! I can't believe that if we put our heads together and continue to be as creative as we've been in the past that we would be unable to figure out how to couple sustainability with growth. We can do this. No doubt!
