At this point in time none of the parties stand a hope in hell of gaining a majority. Generally a non confidence vote will only be put forth over a very divisive issue that that gains a lot of public interest, enough interest for the opposing parties to be in a good position to secure the house.

The current political climate is not as such. The conservative government is proposing a lot of mediocre and moderate ideals that really do not upset anybody, They are playing it very safe, and rightly so. The NDP is on the attack, and the Liberals have been al little quiet the past couple month which usually means they are going to draft a very progressive piece of legislation that the Conservatives will hate, which will gain them a little air time as the party with a conscience.

The conservatives still are not in a position to gain a majority. Their key policies on environment, their passive attitude on Afghanistan as well as government reform, are at best lackluster. They didn't wow the Canadian people. With adscam fading into the past a lot of people are forgetting why the liberals are bad and turning back to red.

The only thing that would happen given a new election would be the liberals winning a small majority, or the conservatives winning a small majority. We would just end up with the exact same government, possibly a new PM,

Megan, if the people who have just answered your question for you are indicative of the average Australian, its no wonder you want to leave your homeland, its holding you back. Instead of answering your question they just insulted you. The Australian government is conservative because Australian society is very conservative. And as an Australian you have a right to get your TAFE before you leave.

They are already doing this. Here where I live in B.C. the Americans in jumpsuits and armed (in unmarked vehicles) raid ed pot growing operations last fall. They have done it in the valley last year. I heard more than one report from friends.

The person above me is mistaken. The coalition government will oust the Conservatives from power, and Harper will be replaced by Dion.

I can understand why some people are frustrated, but I support this new plan. The Conservatives were proposing some things, especially in the realm of women's rights, which I feel would have taken the country in a bad direction (i.e. backwards). The Conservatives may have been elected, but the majority of Canadians voted for the Liberals, NDP and Bloc combined. Conservative ideologies do not reflect the majority of Canadians.
