Conservative Party Policies

Warren Said:

Why did people elect a Labour party with Conservative policies ?

We Answered:

Coz it was better than the elitist tory alternative, and coz Labour believed they could never win an election unless they moved to the right.

Erica Said:

Maureen Said:

What is Conservative party policy on devolution?

We Answered:

Now there is an interesting question for DC and one I doubt he would like to be confronted with. The Conservatives have generally been against devolution for Wales and Scotland until very recently, while the NI situation is a little more complex. Since 1998, the Conservatives have come to the realisation that the devolved institutions actually run quite well, especially in Scotland, and whilst not especially supportive of devolution, the Conservatives are no longer openly hostile to the idea.

With regards devolved English powers, the Conservatives see this as unnecessary and costly. To be perfectly honest, few in the Labour party actually believe that a devolved English parliament is desirable and would like the issue swept under the carpet.

In terms of the 'East Lothian Question' ie. that Scottish MPs get to vote on issues specifically related to English affairs whilst English MPs do not get to vote on specifically Scottish matters is another source of controversy. Right wing Tories make a meal out of this issue and would like to see this question resolved, however they tend to disagree as to how to do so. Most Tories and most Labour MPs hope that the issue will quietly go away if UKIP and the Daily Mail ever stop giving the question oxygen.

Justin Said:

What are the Conservative Parties Policies?

We Answered:

Who cares what their policies are the last thing in the world we want is conservatives in power ( remember thatcher ) you may not be happy with Brown but voting tory is not repeat NOT the answer and to be honest I'm not sure what the answer is but I know, having lived though the evil thatcher years that voting tory is not the answer

And I have to say that it is NOT increasingly obvious that they are going to win, its just a few whingers who want to blame the worlds troubles on gordon brown and think that voting tory will get back at him, nb he didn't cause it it was caused by the policies set in place by thatcher but brown was in power when thatchers policies came to fruition.

Paul Said:

Britain: The Conservative Party's Policies?

We Answered:

I'd say the best place to look for conservative policy is the conservative web site in their policy section (See link below). However Bare in mind that a political party will have policies on a Local Government Level and the National Level. Their website will deal with national issues but you might also what to contact your local councillor who will have contact details posted on your local authority website.

Also please don't accuse me of being a Conservative that would be embarrassing.

Before voting also ensure you check out the manifestos of other political parties.
