it may have to do with topography and population distribution.
Liberal stations use AM too. Am tends to broadcast larger areas.
Since Marconi or Tesla had not invented radio yet when the Constitution nor the Bible were being written I don't think that is why. On the bright side people on the far right and far left are very good at misinterpreting those documents on the radio.

It's more the viewer that is of interest. That people actually tune that nonsense in is amazing. That they actually find the ramblings of an alcoholic "coherent" is even more amazing.

I don't think they do...I think that the conservative hosts just say that in order to get their listeners all riled up. Kind of like O'riellys war on Christmas, just a ratings ploy. I never met anyone who was offended by saying Marry Christmas. Its all just a scam to get you excited.

Conservative talk show hosts actually actually pose more a a threat to small government advocates, like myself. Like I always say, without Fox news and Bush there would be a lot more small government conservatives out there. Bush and Fox made conservatives feel that big government was okay so long as "their guy" was advocating it.

The success of talk radio involves using half truths and cherry picked talking points to win an argument against a straw man who can't fight back. It is the perfect propaganda format. It is extremely convincing to weak minded people who are not critical thinkers. Having two hosts would ruin this form of red meat for the true believers. It would get decent ratings due to the constant fighting, but it would not generate a monolith like Rush. The talk radio monologue generates an emotional bond between the listener and host which is very similar to a cult leader phenomenon. Like a cult, over time the disciple listener develops an emotional bond that allows them to trust and believe anything the host says, even if it is utterly ridiculous, because the listener is so convinced that "xxx is right 99% of the time" that he is willing to forego his own rational thought to find ways to believe the story.
