Conservative Yard Signs
Rhonda Said:
Why are there fewer McCain yard signs? We Answered:
in my area i see about as many of each. honestly in mississippi i expected to see more mccain signs than Obama signs, but that isn't the case here. but the reason you may be seeing that is simply the same reason that he's pulling ahead in the polls, that obama has more supportersMike Said:
Has anyone else been noticing the new hype for McCain? We Answered:

Assuming sister-in-law?We Answered:
I'd pull the sign out of my yard if I were you. That is really over the top. But otherwise, I am very familiar with the type you are referring to. My inlaws are very much the same. They spout all their hate about all that is wrong with the world in very general terms.... most seemingly based in ignorance. But you will know these people for many years to come. As one who has mixed it up a bit with my inlaws over the past 15 years, I'd say it's not worth it. You won't convert them, but you may put yourself in their sights as one to convert. Then the problem will get worse. I'm assuming your inlaws are religious. They probably take their political views as part of their christian duty, so if you say you're a democrat, they will likely feel compelled to convert your heathern soul. It's just so not worth it. Ignore them and go on. I know that's so much easier said than done, but the ramifications of a confrontation go on for so much longer than one conversation that it can truly eat up your energies and time for much longer than it's worth.Just politely have something else to do when they start bashing. Get in the shower, go for a walk, feel ill and need to lie down, whatever.

Are things going too far libs vs cons?We Answered:
Not going to be mean. Just do not understand that if the sign offended you why you just did not go to the person and discuss it like an adultTo be honest, I am not sure why a sign would offend you so much that you would destroy another individuals property and then when that act is thrown back at you... you do not like it.
You vandalized his personal property(the sign)... an act where they have to spend money to replace their property
They in turn vadalaized your sidewalk with chalk and toilet paper....an act that can be cleaned up
If all of you own the property, why did you have a problem with him exercising his right to free speech?
Where does that mentality end?
If you do not like the guys haircut, hold him down and shave him bald?
Dont like the car he drives so have it towed?
Insane
SAM STATED: Considering that all most all hate crimes are committed by people of faith, you have reason to be scared.
Not true actually.
80 percent of violent crimes involve an attacker and victim of the same race. “For the 20 percent of violent crimes that are interracial, 15 percent involve black offenders and white victims; 2 percent involve white offenders and black victims; and 3 percent involve other combinations
the rate of black-perpetrated hate crimes against whites is approximately 1.6 times higher than the rate of white-perpetrated hate crimes against blacks.
30% of hate crimes in the most recent year for which figures are available, were crimes against property. They involved robbing, vandalizing, destroying, stealing, or setting fire to vehicles, homes, stores, or places of worship.
Many people perceive hate crime perpetrators as crazed, hate-filled neo-Nazis or "skinheads". But research by Dr. Edward Dunbar, a clinical psychologist at the University of California, Los Angeles, reveals that of 1,459 hate crimes committed in the Los Angeles area in the period 2000 to 2006, fewer than 5% of the offenders were members of organized hate groups.
Plese educate yourself

Oh how the elections are turning ugly...what should I do?We Answered:
Yes tell the police. But don't be surprised if they don't treat it with much attention as all police are not free from political bias.I think your boyfriends idea is good.
Make sure it's a respectable letter- no accusations, as he suggested, just a request that the sign be returned. Something along the lines of:
"Both democratic and republican parties agree that one of the things that makes this country great is our freedom to be diverse in our religion, politics, and viewpoints.
In our small American neighborhood, we represent this democracy.
We act in a neighborly, considerate manner, and are a supportive community.
However, contrary to our norm of community repect, somebody has tried to stop the manner in which we operate, by stealing the sign on my front lawn. (Obama).
I am making no accusations whatsoever, as to whom, and am am not pursuing any avenues to find out.
I am simply requesting that the sign be returned, no questions asked.
It is essential in our community that we continue to be supportive of eachother; regardless of partisanship as that is one of the things that makes our community and nation great.
(That was just an off my head example. Not telling you what to write. Just an example of a letter that is respectful, and might also motivate people in 'da hood' to show their patriotism and community-respect by returning the sign.)
