How can a rich fat-cat who wears a new outfit every two hours complain about water consuption? Tell him to stop doing so much laundry, and to get rid of his surround shower that uses 50 gallons of water in 5 minutes.

because although there is plenty of potable water at this time, more and more of it is becoming polluted, both by industry and government, and by individuals putting weed killer and fertilizer on green lawns which primarily serve no purpose other than to look pretty.

as far as conserving, quit buying the bottled stuff
use natural landscaping that does not require fertilizer or excessive amounts of water
and, as the old folks said, "shower with a friend"

they also said only flush after number 2, but that is nasty and stinky

Today we do worry about water supplies and quality do to pollutants. However, technology improves so quickly and since 75% of the planet is covered by water. I feel humans are more then capable of purifying the water and move it where it needs to go. 100% But of course we don't want to rely that message because it would give people the ok to dirty the water without care.

Digging chars (trenches) to harvest rain water. Let the water soak into ground.
Using non-soapy bath water, rinse water in gardens for wtaering plants.
Big native shade trees instead of lawns.
Dont keep taps open more than necessary.
Big trees, trenches on hills/mountains to harvest and retain water.
