How To Conserve The Environment

Yvonne Said:

How does conserving energy help the environment?

We Answered:

to produce electricity, natural gas or coal is burned, releaseing soot and greenhouse gases. if you use less electricity (energy), less needs to be produced, less is burned, and fewer harmful gases are released into the air. also, burning less gas in your car produces less harmful gases.

Lois Said:

In the interest of conserving electricity & kinetic energy, how can I decrease the MPG of my Toyota Prius?

We Answered:

You might have to have a 6 cylinder diesel engine installed that has no muffler. Make sure it has the highest emissions possible. I'm glad you are doing your part to increase global warming. Good for you.

Stella Said:

How do forests get depleted? What are its consequences?

We Answered:

deforestation- cutting down trees to build agriculture, cattle, buildings and the trees themselves are used for lumber. The consequences are the deprivation of O2, habitat and inhalation of CO2 which decreases acid rain and global warming.

Dean Said:

How do I turn off the light in my refrigerator when the door is...................?

We Answered:

Well despite the fact that you may not know it some fridges do indeed keep their interior light on.

One owned by a family member has a switch near the light. On one setting it remains on all the time.

I can only surmise that the fridge is sometimes supplied as a unit with a transparent door, for retail use.

If yours is one of those then flick the switch

You might also want to have a n engineer check that your drilled hole did not damage the gas envelope in the unit. At least make sure it is plugged now ;)

Paul Said:

can you help me. i cant find topics on I.P. about garbages, global warming and rice crisis. hope you can give.

We Answered:

you can link all three: grabages (landfills), global warming and rice cultivation through talking about methane (CH4).
rice cultivation is one of the main sources of methane + garbages disposed in landfills produce methane due to fermentation therefore, it can be used but if the construction of the landfill is wrong it can be released to the environment causing global warming for it is one of the GHG (green house gases).

Dolores Said:

How would you inspire people to want to save the environment?

We Answered:

Environmentalists are selfish. They care only about a livable world for humanity, the planet itself has no state that is more beneficial or less beneficial. Technology will get more effective with time as it always has been, older things will naturally be phased out. Ie the Steam Engine to the Combustion Engine which is much more efficient, and it didn't take a bunch of self righteous pretension to get there.

environmental issues are extremely important to me. im always talking to my friends and family about things they can do to improve the environment and reduce their contribution to unnecessary waste and global warming.

i would be favor of requiring homes to be built using eco friendly materials. i read an article recently about the benefits of building homes using recycled materials and combination formulas as well as geothermal heating/air conditioning. although im only 18, i plan to consider all the available resources when i buy a home. it would be great if this were the standard for building homes and a bit more affordable in the initial cost- they have many ways of imitating wood products for the sake of conventional beauty in the home. a lot of people use this as an excuse to discard other options. its also less expensive in the long run.

again, id love to have this as the standard in american society. although we are behind in things like the kyoto plan, it would speak volumes if we pioneered the way to environmentally friendly homes on a national scale. that isnt likely to happen though. if it did prices would have to be much more affordable. its kind of like why are we going to be required to adjust to new television hd sets in 2009 instead of improving the environment?? crazy. still there are good things done to bring awareness. theres actually an annual competition among colleges to see who can build the best energy efficient home. very cool you should check it out. i think its called the Solar Decathlon.

i think its both. the government could make it a hell of a lot easier. i bring up the kyoto plan again because we are the only country not onboard with it. clinton agreed to it but then bush decided to withdraw. how stupid does that make us look as a nation? platsic bags should be banned in all states. i thin kthe government should treat this more or less as one of the situations that requires government action for the good of the people. somehow there are still people who havent connected the dots between pollution, waste, global warming, and an increase in natural disasters in the recent past and present. droughts and flooding ? innocent people dying or losing their homes and communities? does this not scream "a matter of importance" to the geniuses running this country? of course taking legal action against corporations who arent very eco friendly (the biggest and well known in the business) wouldnt be too high on this administrations priority list. republicans and conservatives are best friends with big corporations and as long as the people arent willing to fight this for their own benefit then not much will change on a political level. still every bit counts. i can honestly say that americans are some of the most wasteful people on the planet. in certain parts of europe if not all, theydont give out plastic cups in restaurants or drive throughs - they resuse glass bottles. they drive less. its all just very disappointing. i also think people need to take responsibility. i understand that most people just arent informed so i try to inform anyone willing to listen because even if they dont transform over night perhaps they will remember something that ive said to them the next time theyre faced with the decision to accept a plastic bag for a small purchase or throw away a can instead of walking a few feet to recycle it. we are all responsible for one another in that way - to spread knowledge. so even though its frustrating we have to treat it like a collective effort. however it pisses me off beyond belief when you have conservatives who deny that there is a problem with the environment. lol you have no idea.
