Any important information on water conservation?

We Answered:

some tips - if you don't know most of them already

run washing machines and dishwasher only when they are really full

have the kind of water tank for your toilet which has a choice whether you need a lot of water
to clean the bowl or just a little ( by the way, using drinking water for toilets is absolutely
terrible, i do hope that someone will come up with a system to use recycled water for that purpose)

don't splash water in the shower, or if you use the tub, don't fill it up higher than necessary

check all appliances to make sure that none of them is dripping

if you have a garden, check with your local garden store and ask them which plants will
grow and do fine without huge amounts of water

do not buy or keep a large fish tank

for boiling food, add just the amount of water, which is really needed ( for instance, for boiling
potatoes one just needs to cover the potatoes with water and does not need to fill up the pot )

saving rainwater in barrels is ideal, as another answerer already said

don't go to water amusement parks and ask your friends not to go either. the less people
go there the less will be built

Information on Water Conservation?

We Answered:

Well, water is a limited resource. Sure we have oceans of saltwater, but that cannot easily be converted to drinking water. Nor is it a good idea to start draining the oceans. We rely on them for so many things.

So back to where I started. Water is finite resource. As the population increases, there is less water available per person. It takes water to grow crops-- crops that feed humans and the feed the animals many humans eat.

Currently there is a lot of competition between large cities and farming communities for access to water. If everyone helped to conserve water, it could be used for all the things we "need" it for... and not wasted. We really can't afford to waste water. Like I said, it is finite resource.

There are many simple things that can be done to conserve water. Turning off the water when brushing teeth is major one. Taking shorter showers. Only washing full loads of laundry.
