Turning the people against each other, ordering them to police themselves while you increasingly use the police as your own private army......that is the ideal of a fascist totalitarian government that, quite rightly, holds its spineless gutless people in utter contempt. Sounds like the new labour scenario that we have right now. But I wouldn't say it came anywhere close to Stalin's Russia. You don't have to use violence on the British people to make them do as you wish. Simply telling them their every move is racist will send them into a frenzy of self loathing and shut them up immediately.

I am now getting on a bit, and I can recall both of the parties that have 'ruled' us since 1952ish.
Without doubt the most horrendous was Maggie 'soddum' Thatcher, although the Falkland war I supported, and this kept her in office for a longer period. I say this, but what I should have said was 'the most horrendous until the unelected Brown appeared as the destroyer of our country.
Most of them over the years have been nihilistic, uncaring and greedy - but Gordon 'I'm getting rich ha ha' Brown, has the edge on lying and failing to keep promises.
