Why Conserve Water
Beverly Said:
Do you think it's important to try to save (conserve) water? (Why?) ?We Answered:
Apart from countries in drought in which the answer to this question is self evident,it takes a lot of energy to process water for the mains supply. Save water and we save this energy and global warming etcBottled water is even more energy extravagant. We take an almost worthless comodity and then put it in a plastic or glass bottle, then waste fuel driving it about all over the country. It is an environmental disaster

why do we have to conserve water? We Answered:
your Absolutely right when you say 75% of the earth is made of water. But think about this: 97% of every human being on this planet is made up of water. Then take into account all other life on the planet, and your quickly running dry. Then there's the issue with different KINDS of water. We humans (and most other mammals) need to consume Fresh water. This must be within a certain Ph range and be in a certain range of saltiness. Most people think that all water is replaced using the water cycle (if you don't know what that is, google it), but the truth is most water is actually LOST during the process of evaporation.
Water may not get as much attention as the energy crises, but it is indeed a major problem the next generation will have to deal with.

Why do we conserve water in our homes to save the environment? We Answered:
You conserve water in your homes because fresh potable water is a drying commodity, and it is running out quickly. Millions of people living in millions of homes are wasting billions of water every day. There are simple steps to ensure your house uses less water.Make sure you don't have any leaking faucets, inside and outside your house.
Check to make sure you don't have any leaking pipes on your water system
Make sure your toilets aren't running
use 1.6 gallon per flush toilets
keep the aerators on your faucets, they slow down the flow of water.
use a shower head that has a water saver in it
On hose bibs, with a hose connected, make sure when you are using it, to have a nozzle attached that completely shuts off. In some cities this is the law. Also make sure the packing nut isn't leaking water through (where the bib handle goes through the valve)
Limit showers to under 10 min
Limit the days and duration your sprinkler timer is programmed to go on, in some cities, it is unlawful to water every day, more than once a day and no more than 10 minutes per station. I have seen far too many houses than have there timers set on twice a day, every day and 30 min on each station, and they wonder why their water bill is so high, their lawn is so saturated the grass starts turning yellow, and moister seeping through the house foundation.
Don't keep the water running when you are brushing your teeth.
If your water heater is located quite a distance from a faucet you frequently use, and it takes quite a while for the water to run hot out of the tap, look into having a recirculating line, and pump installed. Waiting for the hot water to come out waste a lot of water. It is an investment that will benefit your water bill, and you won't have to wait for the hot water anymore.
It is mind boggling how much fresh potable water so many people waste.

why does america conserve water? We Answered:
It isn't that there isn't enough water to go around, it is that the water isn't in the right places. Basically, Water evaporates from the oceans and the clouds move inland. It rains and then the water is either in lakes, rivers, or absorbed into the ground. All of that water is moving down hill back towards the sea. Now people start taking that water out and using it on the way and we deplete the ground water supply. Think of it like this. If it only rains 1,000,000 gallons a month in a certain area and the people in that area are taking a larger and larger amount of water out of the ground then eventually you could use all of that water and have none left in the groundwater supply for wells and things like that. it isn't that there isn't enough water, it is that it isn't in the aquifers where we can get to it.
