Understanding their political philosophies may help. Most Republicans are psychologically Conservative. Conservatives want "small government" because they are security-seeking people who loathe interference in their economic lives. But what they will not tell you is that, since they crave SOCIAL STABILITY which enhances their sense of security, they would welcome a BIG established official national Church to regulate moral/social behavior. They lecture other people a lot. CONSERVatives don't want to help people too much, they prefer people to suffer through because it "builds character". They value trust in authority, stable institutions, and the past.

Most Democrats are psychologically Liberals. Liberals believe that most people are, at the core, good generous people like themselves. Liberals value freedom of movement, and prefer to trust their impulses and ability to adapt to situations rather than relying on the comfort of stability. They live in the present. Libs want to help others as much as they possibly can, that is until the impulse to help someone else strikes them.

25% or so of people are neither truly psychologically Liberal or Conservative types. If that describes you, your best bet is probably to determine which of the two major philosophies you most relate to...It's kind of like handedness. We "prefer" to use either our left or right hand, even if CAN use both.

Because unfortunately, if you do not agree with everything that the republicans say, you are anti-American, un-patriotic, non-Christian, and, un-intelligent. It has nothing to do with the parties, actually, Bush just thinks he is God therefore he can never be wrong. I would love to see politics get back to where it used to be, before there was such a vast division among the parties, and the governments first priorities, were it's people, and what was best for them.
