Why will Dan Boren be one of the few House Blue Dog Democrats that gets re-elected?

The race for OK-2 has been discounted by a lot of people at the National level. There are several reasons they consider Boren's seat safe. The first reason is how Boren has done is previous election cycles. He has consistently received 70% of the vote. The other factor they consider is money Dan Boren has huge financial advantage over Charles Thompson. This is the methodology that most national pundits use to predict the outcome of elections.
There are a few problems with this method in O.K.’s 2nd District race this year.

1. Voters are very angry with Dan Boren. He has voted with Pelosi and company 92% of the time since he has been in Congress. He supports huge and bizarre Pork projects across the world. He votes for increasing appropriations over and above what even POTUS Obama requests. These facts will hurt Boren on Election Day.

2. The two previous election cycles are not good comparisons for the current election cycle. In 2008 and 2006 candidates filed only so that Boren would not run un-opposed. They did not actively campaign. It's interesting to note that even though they did not campaign, they each received approximately 30% of the vote. That means 30% of the voters wanted ANYYBODBY BUT Dan Boren.

3. The candidates ability to raise money, Boren has an advantage not because he is a better or safe candidate. He has been raising money longer. Also, there was a very long primary season with four outstanding candidates and a run off election between two of those great candidates. This did slow their ability to raise money. A majority of campaign donors waited until the Republican nominee was decided before they donated any money. The reports that reflect those donations will not be filed until mid October 2010.
