For many of them, it is because they would have to admit that they made a huge mistake voting for him in the first place, and Democrats hate... absolutely HATE taking personal responsibility for anything. Oh yeah because Democrats are soooo much better. I mean really people come on. Democrats are just as bad. The problem is the two party system. I agree with Willie's comment about proportional basis. That would also give third parties and independent candidates a chance. Like in '92 when Ross Perot got 19% of the vote but no electoral votes.

Now, the electoral college does favor Republicans more often than Democrats. But I think it is OK to give rural folks more of a say than their population up would indicate. Certainly, New York and California don't need anymore say than they already have. Also, it's the Democrats' own damn fault. The fact is that most of the rural states and red states, especially in the South, are relatively poor and overwhelmingly blue collar, the people who Democrats claim to represent. But the Democrats have lost the white working class. Why? Could it have anything to do with many people on the left referring to them as "rednecks" who are either too stupid or too racist to vote for them? That could have an effect.

And this is from somebody who is undecided on this election. I'd consider myself an independent or a libertarian, and the only time I've voted, I voted Democrat. I just feel that the stupidity of the conservatives is sufficiently pointed out, while the stupidity of the Democrats is often overlooked.

It is not good based on test scores of the students: "Our public high schools do not perform well and most of our kids are not as motivated in getting a good education as those in other nations" exactly because they are not motivated to LEARN. This begins at home with the parents showing interest in their child's learning and becoming actively involved esp. in the inner cities, and carried to school by the student who must proclaim their mantra of "I want to learn!". First thing is to realize "Pro sports" is not a realistic "career choice" unless you're Len Bias so all options must be open... It's easy to blame the teacher's or the budget but the finest school is a dump if the student does not have the desire to learn.
