Countries With Democratic Government

Amber Said:

When people in a Democratic country admit their government does bad things, isn't that a personal admission?

We Answered:

In a democracy all people share the blame for the actions of their government. Democracy is a government of the people, by the people and for the people. What our government does, we are directly responsible for.

Scott Said:

why do middle east countries do not adopt the democratic from of government ?

We Answered:

They are working on it...Some have already done so (Israel)

Joe Said:

Sweden & other socialist countries with Democratic governments are doing great,so why are Republicans so zany?

We Answered:

We Republicans and Wall Street Tycoons are against all countries like those in Scandinavia where the wealthy are taxed and the middle and lower classes get free medical, six to eight weeks paid vacation a year and all that other ugly "liberal" stuff.

The US has the best system by far; only the rich get decent medical for if the lower classes get sick they do not serve us so they should die. Only we at the top get vacations for we have earned it; the lower classes were created by God to serve our desires.

Daryl Said:

Should countries with Democratic governments support the people or corporations?

We Answered:

Our government is supposed to be a government of the by the people is supposed to be for the people!
OUR constitution begins "We the people of these United States"...................NOT we the corporations!

Seth Said:

Do you think that because of the right to bear arms free US from warlords and corrupted government officials ?

We Answered:

We have a warlord in office now. We also have an extremely corrupt, greedy war mongering self serving administration!!

Amy Said:

government of countries: how many democracies, theocracies, monarchies, communisms etc?

We Answered:

Gosh. Someone wants to set you a very large problem.

There's a difficulty because the categories aren't mutually exclusive - for example, Britain, Denmark, Spain, Norway, and a few others have monarchies but are also democracies. Do you want to change categories to include just 'absolute monarchies?'

A second problem is that a great many despotic countries choose to call themselves 'democracies' though there's no way that they are - as demonstrated by the fact that it's darned difficult to get an opposition party together and the 'president' will be returned with a 98% majority or thereabout after an 'election.'

That won't stop you doing the assignment; it just means that it's rather more complicated than you might have thought at first. I'm not sure where you'd find the information reported with the appropriate degree of subtlety, but I'd start by looking at website for the United Nations, the World Bank, and maybe the Economist - which keeps a list of countries by corruption level and probably has some useful commentary also.

Good luck with the assignment. I suspect that a good teacher would mark you on reporting on these subtleties and cross-overs as opposed to a listing - which, as I hope I've shown, wouldn't mean as much.

Discuss It!
