Democratic Deficit In The Eu
Sally Said:
How has the democratic deficit been affected by changes in decision-making,....continued below? We Answered:
Previously we had only an unelected bureaucracy imposing rules and regulations on EU citizens. Now we will have an unelected President posturing around the World and claiming to represent our views.
It's such a huge improvement it's hard to understand why the ordinary citizens of the EU were so against it.
But fortunately the views of ordinary citizens don't matter in the EU.
EDIT: Old Cynic - If 90% of the electorate are in favour of the EU, why did they vote against it when they had the chance?
It's just as well they don't matter - it looks like most of them are schizophrenic!

Barbara Said:
how are laws made in the EU, is there a democratic deficit in the process? We Answered:
have a look at EC treaty, article n.251, you can find it here (it's the standard way to aprovate reglaments and directives)http://www.europa.eu.int/eur-lex/lex/en/…
personally, I think there's a democratic deficit because the Parliament should me more involved, but on another point of view, the system is very complex, but is working quite good

Lisbon Treaty truth revealed. Does anyone still support it?We Answered:
It must be of vital importance to the the British governments cushy future in their European retirement because Mandelson is propping up the ultimate loser Brown till its ratified so no election can let the cons in to give us the referendum. They are putting the treaty ahead of their poor election chances with Brown. Could this be because they know our nation and all general elections will be dissolved and split into EU regions eventually under the self amending Lisbon treaty? Here is a petition some may want to sign if you can ignore its sickly pro EU wording for the good end it achieves
