Can somone compare/contrast the goals of a Democratic party and the Republican Party? We Answered:
Well there are three basic parties in the United States (if that is what you are asking.)First there is the Republican Party.
They are usually conservative, most try to limit government spending and keep taxes low. This could be changing, since the current Republican controlled government has spent far more than the previous Democratic controlled government. Republicans are generally for the death penalty and strongly against abortion. Most support the war in Iraq, and prefer to stop problems outside of US soil before they come here. Republicans are also usually very Christian, and tend to live in more rural areas of the United States. The typical Conservative is a caucasian, and very pro-business, many are successful businessmen. They tend to be very pro-family values. Also, against gay marriage and gay adoption.
There is the Independent Party.
Independents have mixed views from both sides, and prefer to vote for the candidate who they believe best fits their profile of an ideal candidate.
Last, the Democratic Party.
Democrats are usually liberal, they believe that it is perfectly fine to tax those with large amounts of money, and are strong with government programs (government run education, healthcare, Social Security, etc.) Democrats tend to spend less on junk bills (multi-million dollar bridge to nowhere in Alaska). They believe in trying to spend government money as efficiently as possible. Democrats are generally against the death penalty, prefering Life in Prison as the highest sentence. Democrats tend to be pro-choice when it comes to abortions, but may sway. Most are against the war in Iraq. They believe the the best way to prevent terrorism on US soil is to stop messing with world politics and to take a more diplomatic approach. They believe that the reason that people do not like us is because we are careless with our foreign policy, and are only breeding more terrorists by acting in such a way. Most Democrats are very pro-environment, and a majority don't see a problem with gay marriage/civil unions. The typical Democrat is a middle-aged highly college-educated person, who is involved in community projects and charities.
