It is politically correct because of the negative associations with the Carter administration. Carter, it is often said, has been our greatest ex-president, after being one of our worst presidents. Historically, the assessment of Carter's presidency will be a lot kinder than it is currently viewed. Yes, we had massive inflation, but we also didn't rack up huge deficits. It was a pay as you go system.

In the end, whether it is right or wrong, we will soon see a repeat on the Republican side. For years to come, Republicans will distance themselves from the GW Bush years. Turnabout, I suppose, is fair play!

Do a little more research before you decide what party to support. Make sure they fit with all your beliefs before you start in with their rhetoric. Even check out the 3rd parties, they seem to be the most in need of individuals to help them out since the media won't help them.

To be fair, both parties hardly have done too well on that score. In fact, one could argue that Republicans have done worse, since they've promised to change it and failed.

In New Zealand here we had a government that actually took steps to reduce the size of the government. Once they were thrown out of government, the new government spend 7 years using every, single opportunity to tell us about how bad they were.
