Have political cartoons helped or hindered the Democratic process? We Answered:
Ah, I think that cartoons are irrelevant to the democratic process -but if I *had* to choose, I'd probably say hindered - if something is made into a joke, it becomes just that - a joke. you need to understand the before and after in order to understand an issue - to be "an informed voter" and everything.
Leah Said:
does anybody know of political cartoons that are pro Mccain and not just dissing the democratic party? We Answered:
YES: Biden and Obama join the military. While the face belongs to Biden the arms are definitely Obama’s.http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=z4EUkIqE4…

Help understanding these political cartoons? We Answered:
Capitalism.Capitalism is allowing for the markets to fail when they fail. Not to bolster them up with stimulus or bailout packages. Uncle Sam has no business, already so debt-laden and poor, to go bailing out Wall Street. He/and what he represents, has been tossed aside and left stranded.
As for Palin, Democrats have long-touted that Republicans were sexist. The fact that they couldn't get a woman (Hillary--a feminist to boot) to be their nominee and the Republicans did, in the same election cycle, is like the pot calling the kettle black, so to speak.

What is meant by the Democratic Platform and Cuba in this Political Cartoon? We Answered:
This political cartoon dates from the US election of 1854. It lampoons outgoing President Franklin Pierce and Democratic Party candidate James Buchanan. The Democratic Platform is the "status quo" policy based on the Missouri Compromise - States with slavery would keep it, States without it would stay without it, and new States would be admitted in pairs, one slave, one free, but elections for "free soil" (slavery prohibition) would determine which would be which. Cuba was, at that time a Spanish colony, and black slavery was still legal there at the time, as it was in Central America, so the idea was that the Democrats wanted to force Kansas to be like Cuba, slave territory. The Abolitionists (the Republican Party was not formed until July of 1854) fought for a free soil Kansas. The period called Bloody Kansas, 1854-1860, was the actual start of the American Civil War, under President Buchanan, as groups of armed men raided across Kansas and Missouri, trying to change the electoral outcome by killing people whom they expected to vote for the other side. Missouri raiders were pro-slave, Kansas raiders were free soilers. If you think the current Republicans are fanatics about abortion prohibition, you should look up their records on the issues of abolition (slavery prohibition) and temperance (alcohol prohibition.) The Republicans have always been prepared to do violence in the name of Christian values, and force them down everyone else's throats. The Democrats have always put individual and States rights first, viewing vice as none of the Federal government's business.
You could look it up.
