The real answer to your question is that both parties are coalitions of different groups. Midwest Bible thumpers don't agree with corporate CEOs on every issue, but they both vote Republican. Many libertarians also vote Republican, but they are socially liberal. It is the inevitable result of a two-party system.

I'm leaning toward closing our borders for ILLEGALs and concentrating on our own issues, at least temporarily. I say we get some fiscal conservatives in office to balance our numbers and we should also stop policing the world and let each state decide its own social issues. I would just like to point out that a 5% advantage in the polls usually means a landslide victory.
But the real race has not even started and team McCain has started the mud slinging far too early.

Obama is expecting 75,000 people at his Denver convention.
He has rented the football stadium to host it in.

Most of the polls I have been seeing have Obama far ahead on the delegates count.

What has been making a difference is that there is a very strong pro Republican bias in the media.
People who get their information by watching the cheap channels or listening to talk radio are getting almost complete Republican propaganda.
The Democrats have nothing to compare with Billy Oreily, Limbaugh and Coulter.
Those three alone are professional character assassins enough to destroy almost anybodies reputation.
Lickily the people who listen to them are usually to lazy to actually vote, in spite of what they tell polsters.

What is astounding is that Obama is doing as well as he is in spite of the slurs and unfounded innuendos.
I mean just look at the blatant lies that Republican people are willing to post in here and understand that the same thing is going on in every office around the country.

The sooner you can get the slurs and smears out now the less you will have when they start exposing McCain.
And McCain with his sleazy negative ad campaign has called off the clean campaign promise.
Don't forget that Bill and Hillary are sitting in the background and their smear teams have almost 20 years of intimate experience with Johny boy, and very good memories.
I would expect them to kick into gear about a month before the election date.
I think McCain is about to get buried in his own excrement.

I know I am. It seems like even though we are all throwing a fit about it, No one talks about it. I think they are hopeing it will go away. I heard them talking about stem cell reachearch. They announced last week that the don't even need human stem cells anymore. But They will talk about anything else today as long as it dosn't lead to illegal immigration. I know the Dem's are pushing for them to vote!
