democrats tend to favor using diplomacy rather than militantcy to handle hostile foreign policy issues. both are valid, however, there are problems when you stick strictly to oneor the other and refuse to consider the other method.

for example, militancy was warranted in afghanistan following 9/11 becuase the terrorists being harbored there would not negotiate with us. that was never their plan, they aim to eliminate our jahili (secular) nation from the planet so that we can poorly influence other nations. they won't make deals with us, there is no middle ground.

we used diplomacy to handle the situation between Russia and Georgia, using military power in that situation would have gotten us in over our heads and would have created unnecesary war with a nation who was willing to talk.

so the problem is not with wanting to use diplomacy, the problem comes with applying it incorrectly.

Maybe the Republicans should because it is not fair that the Democrats can try to control the Presideny. So maybe the Republicans should do it back when the new Democrat President.

The Democratic/liberal critics of President Obama's foreign policy have been quite vocal, so I'm not sure what you are referencing. Others support his policies.

Traditionally Democrats are the ones that start wars. WW1, WW2, korea, Vietnam, it wasn't until the Bush's that republicans started going to war.
