Democrats Vs Republicans Differences

Rachel Said:

The Differences between Red Vs. Blue?

We Answered:

Since the presidential election of 2000 the idea of red (Republican) and blue (Democrat) states has become commonplace in the media, to the point where it is accepted that everyone knows what they are. The general idea is that blue states tend to be more liberal politically, while red states are more conservative. The terms red and blue states began to be widely used during the 2000 Presidential campaign on electoral maps in the media. After the election the media continued using this color scheme to describe Republican and Democratic states, painting each with a broad brush. The reality is far more complicated than this simple red/blue dichotomy.

For a more thorough discussion of the history of the red/blue state concept, see Times article below. Note that until 2000 it was not universally accepted that red was Republican and blue Democratic, and that the color scheme used to be reversed. After all, so many people have considered us, shall we say, communists? Hence, the identifying color of Red? Hmmmm...sad.

Janet Said:

Republicans vs. Democrats.... Do you really think there is a difference?

We Answered:

I am with you on this one;

"This country, with its institutions, belongs to the people who inhabit it. Whenever they shall grow weary of the existing government, they can exercise their constitutional right of amending it, or exercise their revolutionary right to overthrow it. "

Donald Said:

General makeup of Republicans vs Democrats?

We Answered:

Because the rich don't feel the sting from the policies of the republican party as much as the working class does, so either they are SUPER rich and enjoy the benefit of a lot of government handouts from repubs or they are voting on social issues like abortion and gay marriage. The left consists of either the poor who are being too screwed to care about social issues or "cosmopolitan" intellectuals who are looking at the big picture and not social issues.

Frank Said:

Conservative democrats vs. liberal republicans?

We Answered:

Mark S has a good answer but also there are different areas to be liberal or conservative. Fiscal, moral, law enforcement, foreign policies are just a few. A person might be a conservative when it comes to the way our country spends it's money but could care less if to gays want to get married.

Joann Said:

Republicans vs. Democrats on current healthcare reform.?

We Answered:

Both parties support:
-outlawing discrimination against pre-existing conditions
-allowing children to remain on their parents insurance up to age of 26
-ending the anti-trust exemption for health care insurers

Democrats want:
-expanded coverage of medicaid
-individual mandate to have health insurance coverage
-subsidies for the middle class who don't receive medicaid but individuals that make less than $43,320 and families that make less than $73,240

Republicans want:
-being able to buy insurance across state lines
-tort reform (making it more difficult to sue doctors over malpractice)
